Wherever you like. I've run them just laid on top of other stuff (temporarily). You're supposed to have the metal "square" armature around the coil grounded to something, but I can't say I've encountered any problems if it's not.

Those idiots haven't put the work-around in the install instructions yet? I wrote Edelbrock to complain about this (and other things) way back around 1989. They wrote me back telling me to call them. Talking with them, they acted really concerned over this and some other complaints I had.

I was able to mount the coil and the EGR solenoid in the stock location after I removed the center section of the bracket so that it cleared the manifold runner. Then I had to stack some washers behind the bracket to stand it off away from the manifold to get the necessary clearance.

I also had to shorten one of the accessory bracket bosses, drill it oversized (it wasn't drilled deep enough) and retap the hole.

The one good thing they told me was to use Fel-Pro Print-O-Seal lower gaskets instead of the Perma-Torque. But I already knew this.

well isn't that just handy? i was personally planning on writing them to say how thrilled i was that i had to grind **** off my new equipment so it will fit correctly with the factory stuff its theoretically designed to go with.

on a side note, do you have a picture of the completed bracket modification still? also, which acessory bracket is incorrect?

thanks

No photos. No digital cameras in '89...at least not consumer grade cameras. No film photos either.

I can't recall which accessory boss needed mod'ing either.

I have the TPIS big mouth base, basically the same thing as the edelbrock one and I had to do the same thing.

Same goes for the Accel Superram base manifold too. I also had to cut out the center of the coil bracket between the two intake bolt holes. Only took a few minutes to do though. Kinda hated cutting up a perfectly good bracket, but then I noticed you can get a brand new one from tpiparts.net pretty cheap, so that made me feel better about hacking on it.
