how can you tell the difference between 305 tpi and 350 tpi

I am looking to buy another camaro and I want to know how to tell the difference between a 305 tpi and a 350 tpi. For all I know, the pretty much look the same.

The 8th digit of the VIN indicates the motor (that originaly came in the car). F is for a 305 TPI and 8 is for a 350 TPI. The emissions label under the hood should also specify 5.0l or 5.7l.

Althought this can be easily changed, the automatic shifter on an L98(350) is square and it is round on the LB9(305).

check the RPO codes in the glove box. L98 is the 350. of course that only tells u what the original engine was. the only real way to tell is to get the casting numbers off the block, but if it has been decked then your gona have to pull a head and measure the bore if u want to be 100% sure.

Urban legend... A post settled this once and for all a couple months ago, there is NO correlation between shifter **** and engine size. Not in dealer literature, not in RPOs, and not in a real world poll of members of thirdgen.org

edit...forgot to add, i have a square shifter **** and 305
