The best cam for me?
The best cam for me?
I have an auto 305 with slp intake runners and exhaust and stuff, but what cam would be best with 58cc vette heads without having to do a bunch of machining and stuff.

How about the small SLP cam? I think it's something to the effect of 206/212. It will idle pretty nice, but I don't know about the resulting compression ratio of those heads. Might end up being in the low 8's. Instead of trying to fit a bunch of parts to a 305, do yourself a favor and go buy a 350 shortblock. You'll go faster, your heads will fit, you can get a bigger cam for the same money, you'll be more popular and girls will throw themselves at you.

I had that combo on a 305 once you did not say what year car you have need to know if it is a roller cam or not my car was an 86 non roller I used a 2040 compucam and bought a set uf springs for like 75 from the local machine shop that would take the extra lift with out having to cut the spring seats in the heads. the vet heads have the same 58cc chambers as the 305 did so my compretion did not change but the flow was better I did a port job on them my self and had a three angle valve jug done to them car ran great never got a dyno but it was definitly a noticable difrance some guys are running pritty big cams with those heads I was going to use them on my 350 with the hot cam but then got a set of fast burn instead just remeber that you have to change the springs to except the lift and I would open up the tpi a little runners some porting so it can breath better.
