383 TPI?

Hi all, I am new to the site and back in the F-Body scene. Its been some years since I have been in one of these but I found a '91 GTA that was to good a deal to pass up. As we all know these cars are and were slow even when rolling off the showroom floor.I was gearing toward an LS-1 swap but I havent seen many mettalic green GTA's around and this car is nicely equipped withthe L-98 dual cats aluminum driveshaft and so on and so on. My issue is now that the car is 17 years old the engine is tired so I had bought another block as well as some other things to make a nice 383. The block is a 1990 four bolt main that is getting punched 0.30 over, Scat 4340 400 crank, Comp Cams Hyd. roller cam specs intake.588 exhaust.609 a set of AFR 195cc heads, Accel Super-Ram and so far thats all. I am looking into pistons as we speak and I am considering going a higher comp such as 10-1 or maybe 11-1. My concern now is the ECM.These cars are a nightmare when it comes to making any kind of real power while maintaing the Fuel injection setup. I really dont want to go through a big expense with a DFI. In the end I will have the car dyno tuned but my question is does any body have a suggestion for injector size, Air to fuel ratios and or ECM solutions so I can maintain the stock computer in the car? I am not looking to make a drag car out of this but the stock L-98 is far from a powerhouse and I would like a clean driver that can keep up with todays technology...

Re: 383 TPI?

With a good tune you can use 30 lb injectors. Thats what I am using with no probs.

Re: 383 TPI?

Sounds like a good combo, how did you make out with the stock ECM?

Forgot to mention that I have a set of brand new nos SLP headers that will go on and may go with the 3 inch intermediate or if affordable a true dual.

Re: 383 TPI?

That's pretty much the setup I built. Getting ready to fire it up tomorrow.

Re: 383 TPI?

You may want to look into upgrading your fuel pump. I'm not sure the stock one will be able to handle the potential power output of your motor.

I upgraded mine to a Walbro 255lph. Highly recommended for anything above 400hp.

This can be a challenge, body has limited room for all the pipes. Ground clearance is also an issue.

Do a search on tgo "true duals"
