I just bought an adjustable fuel reg. and was wondering where you put the guage to get a base line then?Where is the fuse for the fuel pump?My car is an L98 .Thanks for the help!

 

I didnt remove the fuse when I changed the fuelpressureregulator..
I only let it sit for a whole day without turning the key.. removed batterycable and removed the lock from the tank..

When I removed the FPR there was no fuel there, the pressure has dropped to zero over night, So it should be fine if you let it sit for a good while..

The fuelressure gauge is connected to the little nipple on the passenger side of the fuelrail, beside the FPR..

Fuelpressure shall be set at ~44/45PSI (without vacuum)
Thats the stock pressure, you could try 47PSI (without vacuum)

You should NOT go over 50PSI because that will cause damage to the fuelpump over time..

Actually I just checked the baseline fuel pressure for this swap which I'm gonna do tomorrow on my 85 TPI 355 and with out the vacuum it was at 49PSI and with the vacuum it was 42PSI. Recommended pressure after the install of the adjustable fuel pressure regulator is 45-47PSI from Tuned Port Induction Specialties.

 

I bought a fuel pressure gauge at Autozone for about $15 bucks several years ago. It mounts to the schraeder valve on the passenger side fuel rail.

I hadn't driven the car is a few days, so I had no pressure when I did the injectors and adjustable regulator. I only had the fuel that was in the rails to begin with. One rag was enought to soak it up. On a side note, my pressure gauge had a bleed off line, so if I DID have pressure, I can release it before doing any work.

 

Theres a Bleeder Valve on the passenger side of the fuel rail, you should be able to release your fuel pressure there. Make sure you have a rag handy and you place it over top of the pressure release to catch the fuel coming out.

 

Yeah thats the nipple you connect the fuelpressuregauge to..
It will sprayout if you have been running your car resently (like in 30min or so)..
So be carefull when you release the pressure..
