TPI swap (yet another)
Well to add to the never ending TPI swaps. I have a built 350 but to factory specs. I am running a 80-85 2bolt block with a Performer rpm intake and a 750 holley on my 85. NOW to the normal quesitions. I have a 85 Iroc-Z28 i think its a 305 parts car and i want to swap TPI to my car. But i want to do the painless wiring harness and want to know what all i need to use the harness and were can i get one.
I tried to do a search and i kept finding TPI to Carb not the other way. Im going to keep the 305 injectors and all until get my SLP runners then ill swap to a 40 LBS injectors. Any info or can anyone forward me to a better thread. I DO WANT TO GO THE EASY WAY. not the factory confusing harness
THANKS FOR THE HELP

Re: TPI swap (yet another)
You will have to install a fuel pump in the tank. If you have a parts car with this, great!! Not sure if you have to swap fuel lines, but I am guessing yes.
Your getting a painless harness, it should come with directions. To me, installing a factory harness would be easier, but w/e.
You can atleast run/start it on 305 injectors. But sure dont go hot-rod it. Then 40lbs will be alot. 350 comes with 22lb IIRC.

ok on the fuel pump. But the stock system has a return line. May have to do some fudging there.
the favored injectors for minor builds seem to be the ford/bosch 24lb blue tops. May look for some of them.
also on the harness. Do you want a MAP system, or MAF system?

Re: TPI swap (yet another)
well crap i dont know. I've done a bit of reading, and since its an 86 model TPI im guessing its MAF. but what ever i got is wat i want to run. I dont want to mess with the sensors and stuff i just want to put SLP runners, the injectors and the pump on it. Drive it for a bit and see if i like it then i'll mod it if i have to.
I haven't found a harness yet that has any info. Im guessing i should pick up a TPI swap book.
Your also saying Ford injectors. Do they fit, or do they need bigger o-rings or whats all the talk.

86 is maf, yes. But if you havent got a harness yet, you can go either way. Do you have an ECM yet? That will be what make more of a difference.
ford injectors pop right in like any other injector. Basically plug n play
