TBI 305 Kock sensor

Will a 305 TBI knock sensor work on a TPI setup? i am switchin to TPI from tbi and i wasnt sure if i had to get a new one or what ever

as long as you stick with the 305 youll be fine using the tbi one.

You must change the knock sensor to a TPI unit. Check the Tech Articles section to confirm this.

if the tech article is so right then how come a bunch of people have kept the tbi sensor when switching to tpi? and have gotten away with it. same block same sensor a 350 is a diff story.

Well, apparently there must be some truth to it as I checked the part numbers for both TBI and TPI before I purchased for my swap and they were different. For those that still have the TBI knock sensor and no issues,

when i did my tpi swap i keep my tbi knock because i forgot to swap it
it causes ignition retard above 3500 i was pissed chouldnt for the life of me figure out what was wrong
then remembered i didnt do the knock swapped in the tpi one and it worked correctly
