everytime i start the car for the first time that day, weather its morning, noon or night. itll run for about 3-5secs then die. but if i start it and goose the trottle it start and run w/o dying. any ideas what may be causing this?

 

well im leaning towards a possible IAC problem, has anyone got any insight?

youre probably right, iac and tps go back and reset them both,technicle articles on homepage has a great article on how to set them properly.later jimmy

 

i reset the TPS awhile back after i bought a new one. since ive owned the car i have never reset the IAC so i think i need to. i got a used MAF sensor which did make a world of difference when i was troubleshooting another problem. i goona try and clean and reset the IAC and see what the results are.

the IAC can be cleaned correct? if so what is a safe cleaner to use? regular carb or TB cleaner, WD40, what????

 

Take the IAC out of the TB and clean the passageway with carb cleaner. Reset the IAC and TPS according to the tech article. It did wonders for my car.
