Does the Vehicle Speed Sensor have to be specific for each engine, tranny, and induction type, or will any VSS work?

 

well i do know that there is a difference between VSS on MAF engines and Speed Density engines. other then that im not sure.

Just to ad to his question I was wondering if an electric spedometer out of a maf T/A will work with the speed density vss. I was wondering because I was planning on putting the 140 spedo in my car and I wanted to run my tuned port as a speed density setup. Thanks for the help.
