I have heard about these... from what I understand the new bolt holes run real close to the water passages and have a tendacy to strip. Most companies that used to sell the double drilled vortecs have stopped for those reasons. Regardless of bolt pattern the ports don't line up and you are going to have some major turbulence. Just my 2 cents.

there on 89 and newer vans and trucks, you might be able to find some in a junkyard or elswhere, i havent come across any in the junkyard but at the last swap at the fairgrounds i saw 3 diffrent sets for about 250-300$ which is a pretty good deal, they flow better then the old double hump heads, the TPI setup ****should**** would as these have the newer style bolt pattern, only downsides is they will only take a .470 lift cam and need a self aligning roller rocker (expensive) but for there price a good choice for a street/mild strip engine. heres a link for a pair of brand new ones..

Actually, Vortec heads weren't in use until 1996.

you can get NEW fully assembled vortec heads from GM performance for $450, then you would have to buy a scoggins dickey vortec TPI base. That is the better way to go vs. getting the vortec heads drilled and tapped for the stock base.
