my friends dad bored mine to 52mm, he just built new butterflies out of aluminium.
My friend told me there is quite a bit of work involved in doing this .

I remember meeting someone that bored his 48mm to 52mm, and used the butterfly plates from a carb... can't remember which one, though, cause at the time I knew nothing about cars

Hey ZEPHER,
are u saying that making the butterflies is a lot of work? or boring out the t/b to 52mm is a lot of work? I know its not going to be easy, but once i get it centered on the milling machine, i can just run a 52mm bit thru it,i guess ill have to call holley or something to find the butterflies

Oh, I should have clarified my statement.
The entire process of boring out the throttle body is a lot of work, making the butterflies is the easy part.
Usually the small screws that hold the butterflies to the center rod break, so you need to drill em out and re-tap the holes.
You have to cut off the end of one side of the rod to pull it out, then weld it when you put it back in. There is a small hole that needs to be filled in a little, since boring it out makes the hole larger and then you'll get this loud hissing sound that sounds like you have a vacuum leak.
Not way too difficult, relatively easy if you are a machinist. I couldn't do it,
so I had my friends dad who has a machine shop do it for me.

I have two 52mm blades that I salvaged from some other Throttle bodies. Email me if you are interested.
