Ford or Accel Injectors

Yes, I know there are several threads about this, but I need to be 100% sure.
Im thinking of changing to these injectors : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...MS-M-9593-C302
Ford Racing 19lbs (going back to stock lbs/hr)

Im using Accel 23lbs/hr right now, and I think (even thou I change the injector constant in the prom thats something is wrong with my Accel injectors, yellow ones...)

Shall I go with the ford 19lbs or shall I buy new Accel (white/silver ones heard that they shall be much better then the yellow ones..). : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

and if I shall buy ford injectors, shall I buy other o-rings ? cannot find GM o-rings on summit, anyone know wich ones I need to change to ??

and is it just an direct fit with the ford injectors ? When I changed the Accel injectors they clicked right in place and I had/have no externalleaks. used the accel o-rings that was included...

Any help is really appreciated

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

I went with Ford injectors, and they're working great for me. The main reason I got them was the price, $65 shipped off ebay. They had been rebuilt and came with new o-rings. The Fel-Pro intake gasket set I bought also came with injector o-rings, and I used those instead. They are slightly shorter than stock, but as long as you use the clips to install them into the fuel rail, you'll be fine. After you re-install the fuel rail, hook it up and do a pressure test before putting the rest of the intake on. That way if there is a leak, it's pretty easy to get at.

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

Thanks for the answer, so If I buy this Fel-PRO kit and use the fel-pro o-rings I will o fine then ? : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=FEL-MS930351

what you mean with the clips ? I will reuse the C clips that holds the injector in place in the fuel rail (is it those you mean?) or are it the "clips/nozzle" in plastic as the accel has ?

thanks again for fast response Will order these in about ~10hours, just want to know what "clips" youre talking about first

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

Yeah, that's the kit I used, and the o-rings I used. And yes, the c-clips that hold the injectors to the fuel rail.

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

Nothing but trouble free miles for about 3 yrs with my 24# Accels. Lots of roadtrips and track courses.

Didn't trust having the originals rebuilt, they were brittle anyways.

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

The Ford Injectors and Fel-Pro gasket are ordered, and shipped from summit, now we see how long it takes to come home to Sweden

Thanks for all feedback and help

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

in the Fel-Pro kit that I bought, there is only 8 o-rings included.. shall I only change the lower ones (intake o-rings) or shall I buy more o-rings and chane the upper ones to (fuelrail ones) or is it just the lower ones thats different ?..

Is it the same size o-rings on the upper/lower (intake/fuelrail) oart on the injector ? Think I got one set o-rings left from last time when I changed, bought the same Fel-pro kit last time, but I installed accel injectors and didnt have to use the fel-pro o-rings then, Now im going with ford injectors...so
Do I only need to change the down ones ?

or do I need to buy this ones too ? : http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/300
need to know So I can buy if needed before I start to change the injectors..

please help me out..

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

Several months ago I installed Ford injectors in my engine. The Fel Pro gasket set cam with O-Rings and I explored getting GM O-Rings. I even asked the same question, you could probably search and find that thread. I used the ones that came with the Ford injectors and they are not leaking. One would thing they would leak sooner rather than later; however, I have not seen any experiences on how the Ford O-Rings hold up over time compared to GM O-Rings.

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

I'm not sure what used to come on the Ford injectors, but the Orings I recently got with mine were the same diameter as my stock o-rings, just not quite as fat, (looking at them from the side).

I've heard there were sometimes problems with the OLDER style (smaller diameter) O-rings when used with our TPIs, but that now the fords have the larger ones. I can't say that's what you'll get, but mine were the same.

....regardless, I'm using my old O-rings on the top, which were in good condition, and the Ford O rings around the bottom. No problems with several hundred miles on the car after the injector swap.

Re: Ford or Accel Injectors

I just swapped TPI onto my firebird and used ford injectors. I installed the GM upper o-rings and the Ford lower o-rings. Fits like a charm. I used a little dab of oil when I assembled them to ease installation. I have used a combination of GM/Ford o-rings in the past with no ill effects. -Bob
