How much torque for my intake bolts - aluminum intake
How tight should I torque my intake bolts on my TPI intake?? The books I read and info I read says 30-35 ft lbs ... but they don't specify aluminum or not. I heard that you're not supposed to torque aluminum intakes to more than about 25 ft lbs. Some of you guys who have done this plz let me know how much torque I should use. Thanks in advance.
86,
Which bolts? The bolts that fasten the intake base to the heads are actually threading into cast iron heads, not aluminum. They should be torqued at 30-35 ft/lb. The balance of the fasteners for the TPI plenum, runners, and throttle body should be torqued at 18 ft/lb.
Of course, all fasteners should have clean threads with a light coating of oil for cast iron, and a liberal coating of anti-sieze compound for aluminum.
