Who Should Win?

I have a 1986 305 TPI auto with K&N's, a shift kit, an Edelbrock Hi-Flow baseplate, as well as a Dynomax cat-back. My friend has a 1999 V-6 mustang with a cold air setup as well as a dual flowmaster exhaust. We talk about racing all the time, but we never get too. Just kinda wonderin?

I think the camaro would win. the tpi engine has alot of torque and top end power. If the mustang gets you off the line, the camaro will win in the long run. My opinion.

You should. Why? He *might* be able to break into the 15's if he is lucky. Yours should be somewhere in the mid 15's if its running right.
Race and find out.

I have a close friend with a '96 V-6 'stang. Let me tell you they are not slow.I HAVE raced him(on the street).I can get him off the line, but he is on my rear the rest of the trip! DO NOT under estimate it just because it is a 6. If my friends 'stang had a cold air intake, and free flowing exhaust, he would probibly cause me great emotional distress as he stormed by. Now if I got that turbo ............................

I raced a 99+ V6 mustang in a V6 camaro and beat it without too much effort. It is not a 3800 V6 fourthgen either, its the base model. I wouldnt worry too hard about it.

Ok dont the new V6 mustangs have close to like 190hp? How did a 160Hp camaro out run that?

Past Thirdgen:
86 Trans Am w/ built 355TPI with SLP goodies and too much other stuff to List. One sweet *** car, wish I would have had a good enough Job to pay insurance on three cars so I could keep it, but for a 89 Turbo Trans Am w/ Low miles, I think I made the right choice!

A peanut cam MAF 305 should be able to take any of the V6 rustangs. As previously said, they're high 15, low 16 second cars. The 86-89 A4 LB9s should average just better than that. With driver error and vehicle condition taken into account, you could lose.

And ******* , why is it that someone w/ a TTA / turbo buick always has to jump in to defend V6s. If you think a NA dura schleck ford 6 pooper has ANYTHING (except displacement) in common w/ a buick 6 w/ a hairdryer, you have serious mental issues. I don't think there is ANYONE on this planet who still thinks a turbo buick is 'just' a slow lil V6. And even if they did think that, you should be smart enough to not even waste your time in the argument, it's called being the bigger man. I swear, some people just shouldn't be allowed to buy fast cars.

btw, this post is being moved the the theoretical and street racing board....
