Another Starting problem after I replaced fuel pump

My car wouldn't start two weeks ago. What had happened was I went to start it, it took like 10 sec of cranking like usual, then finally started but ran at like a very low rpm and wanted to die. I would give it gas and get no reponse from that. It finally died. This has happened for the past five years on and off but it would always restart after about 10 minutes and run perfectly normal. This time I couldn't restart it at all . I did some tests and found I had no fuel pressure and the pump wouldnt come on. Did some more tests and it led me to replace the fuel pump. I did with a Walbro. I finally got to drive it yesteraday. This morning I go to start it and it almost does the same thing it idled really low almost dieing but not as low. This time when I would press the gas it responded and raised the rpm to normal. I couldnt test the fuel pressure becasue i didnt know it was going to happen. Does this still sound like another fuel problem?

It doesn't take much fuel to sustain an idle. If you can rev up the engine, I'd think the supply would be adequte. There could always be some strange thing with the FPR.

Low/erratic idle could also be due an IAC issue.

Does it still take extended cranking to start?

Sometimes yes sometimes no. USUALLY the first time its started in the morning it will start right up. Short cranking time. But when it does take longer to crank in he morning is when I usually have this idleing problem. I do also have it once in a while even if it takes a normal time to crank.

Now when the car is hot and I try to start it, it usaully takes a long time to start and this is all the time. But I wont have a problem with idleing. Only once in a while when its hot will it idle bad.

I have really have no idea if it is really related to my fuel system but people have always told me it probably was and since I had to change the fuel pump I was hopeing that would take care of it. but i guess not.

Well, lets just ask the basics first, okay?
When did you last do a tune up and check the timing?
How about checking the TPS Voltage and adjusting the IAC?
Have you replaced the fuel filter, O2 sensor or ignition control module?
All of these things could affect the idle somehow.
And one last thing is recheck the fuel pressure to make sure the new pump is good, it wouldn't be the first time a new pump is bad. But I highly think this is not a problem.
Just a thought and a few questions to narrow it down.

Good Luck!

Plugs, wires, coil, cap, 02, fuel filter all pretty new (w/in last 6 months), Tps is fine, everything looks ok on my scanner. Like i said this has happened on and off for the last 5 years. All that I mentioned above has been replaced twice in those 5 years, except Tps but its reading fine. I checked timing for the first time a few weeks ago and its like 2, thats the 2 on the left of the 0 (sorry I know nothing about timing)
Now the IAC and ignition control module I hve never touched. This is only a problem at startup. My idle is fine while at a light or stopped for another reason. Would any of those two affect startup idle only??

Another thing is like 95% of the time it happens is when its warmer outside.

Extended cranking, running rough, Hmmm, does your fuel pressure leak down when this happens? Sounds like possibly a leaking injector. When it starts to run bad, turn the car off, hook up a fuel pressure gauge and turn the key on, engine off, does it hold steady fuel pressure?

Fuel pump relay primes the fuel line. If the relay is going bad, I've heard that it can cause the extended cranking time, until the oil pressure switch gets enough pressure to close the switch and activate the pump.
I have also read that a bad CTS can cause this too. Since I am also suffering from extended cranking and poor idle until warm, those will be the 2 things I change first, before I spend money on a gauge and/or pump.
