Injector change with problems

I changed my injectors yesterday and I am having some problems. The car ran fine before hand it just had one injector ohming bad and would not hold fuel pressure with pump primed. I changed all the injectors and changed the FPR out with another one. It got it to hold pressure so I assembled it back together. The engine did not want to turn over like it was hydro locked. It finally started and barely would idle and was extremely rough. It also had white smoke out the exhaust as well. I had primed the system multiple times and pulled the FPR several times and had several injectors on and off so there was a lot of fuel leaking into the intake. My thoughts are that the fuel has gotten into the oil. My oil pressure was low and the oil did smell like fuel. Any thoughts of what I should do? I plan on changing the oil but unsure what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sean

Hey sorry you had such problems. Here's my experience with hyrolock. Your cylinder filled up with fuel. Most of that fuel went into the oil so you should change it asap so you eliminate the risk of explosion. Also you should always ohm check all injectors (even new ones) prior to install to save all the labor just in case one is bad. What I would do now is get another matched set of injectors and start over. Where did you get your injectors? I'd see if I could get a credit or better, just get a refund.

Re: Injector change with problems

I had one original injecter ohm out at 8.3 and the system would not hold pressure. I removed the runners and lifted the rail up so I could see the injectors. I started to swap out the old ones with the replacements but I left it sit a day or so with the rail open (big mistake). I also had the AFPR off for a day as well. It didnt dawn on me the nightmare situation I was creating. I am going to change the oil today and hope for the best. Thanks for the help.

Re: Injector change with problems

Just drain the oil pan and it had a extreme amount of fuel oil in it. It was only running a minute or two so we shall see what happens.

You probably also flooded the plugs pretty bad, and maybe fouled some out. I would put in a new set of plugs and change the oil asap.

Re: Injector change with problems

I changed the oil and it idles ok. It does start a lot quicker as well. I still have a bad chugging or miss when accelerating that I figured if the injectors fix then great but didnt count on it. I will have to pull the plugs like you said and check them. I changed all but two a few weeks ago and need to check them again. Those two were bosch and I have heard bad things about them. I have changed the coil, cap, rotor, module, ECM, plug wires except those last two cylinders. It will be a pain because it is the last two on the passenger side. Should be fun.

Re: Injector change with problems

You can get those two pass. side plugs from the bottom of the car. Jack up the car and access them from below. It will be much easier.

Re: Injector change with problems

Thanks. I tried from the top just to see if I could and it is hopeless. I am going to give it a shot tommorow.

Re: Injector change with problems

I changed all my plugs from the bottom of my l98 and didnt need a single extension or swivel. just a ratchet and plug socket.

It's much easier from the bottom.

Re: Injector change with problems

I never thought of doing all of them from the bottom. I will have to remember that the next time. Is standard AC plugs still good to run? What about Autolite platinum AP26?
Thanks for the help.
