IAC always clicking

Unfortunately the engine has never started yet so getting an idle to get the IAC properly adjusted is out of the question.

Why does it ALWAYS make noise until the ignition is turned back off. Shouldn't the darn thing be happy at some point in it's life to have the clicking STOP? What' going on? What is it trying to do? Or what is wrong that it never stops trying to set itself?

Re: IAC always clicking

When you jump the ALDL connector to check for code or put the ECM in FS mode, the IAC extends, and can continue to keep wotrking...do you have the jumper still insode yur diag connector?

Regardless, just unplg the damn thing...it'll eother idle too hig, too low or just right if yo get lucky...then deal with it later

Re: IAC always clicking

Yes , the ol' paper clip is still in the ALDL connector. I'll pull it later today to verify that it stops clicling.

Re: IAC always clicking

If the IAC clickin it could be due it goes against the iac passage walls and maybe it damaged ? it should click while having a paperclip in place and the ignition on, it should extend to its maximum and then stop.
