Engine tries to start...fuel pressure problem? (Video Inside)

I just tried to start my 355 TPI last night. It fires right up, runs for a second, then dies. The fuel pump runs for about 1 minute every time the engine stops!! What's up with that?

I hooked up my fuel pressure guage. I'm getting 40psi when I turn the key to ON. As soon as the engine fires up, the pressure drops suddenly to 30 psi, the engine shuts off, then the pressure goes to 40 psi.

I have an AFPR, but it should not need adjustment because the engine ran fine before I took it out of the vehicle.

The only thing I changed with the fuel lines was replacing them with braided stainless. There is one fitting that does restrict the fuel feed line...blocking about half of the diameter of the line. Could this be the problem?

It'll take me 4 days to download a 1+meg file on my modem line...

Do you have a MAF sensor? If so, could be it's not secured well to the ductwork, or the duct is craked/split.

Also, make sure the duct is on securely to the TB

Also, the FP could be running due to residual pressure in the oil pressure switch, a minute does seem kinda long though...mine always buzzed for about 5-10 seconds, max

Thats what finally convinced me to get DSL. About 3 seconds till showtime

I don't think its a fuel problem. It should run rather well w/ 30psi. Spray some carb cleaner down the TB and see if you can't keep it running. If so, then you do have a fuel problem, or the injectors are shutting off.

I can tell by the pic that you put a Corvette engine (alt bracket is a dead givaway) into an S/T truck/utility (the digital dash is the dead givaway) That looks like it will be one bad ride. Good luck.

The FP going down is normal; the FP is controlled through the FPR via vacuum. As soon as the engine starts, you have vacuum which reduces the FP.

Without scan data, it's difficult to say what your problem is.

That said, I had a problem where my car would start and run for a second and then quit. Ended up needing to burn a new chip.

Figured it out...I had a wire going to the wrong place on the starter. It runs now...and breathes fire with open headers!
