I just got a MSD blaster coil and 8.5 wires for my 350 TPI and the engine is idling rough and smells rich. Why is this and is it part of the chip processing it or do i need to do something? The engine is stock other than this.

 

It also is sounding a lot louder and nothing else was messed with. Is it possible one of my plug wires might not be on good enough?

 

or you might have crossed some onto the wrong plugs. the two in the middle on the pass side are easy to get mixed up.

 

ok but is there a chance the coil itself is causing this? Also a friend who helped get it in and go to get it said that the computer needs to adjust to the new coil is that true? And is the rich carb smell from the coil cleaning the car out?

The computer will need to adjust to the changes, but that shouldn't take more than a matter of seconds once the car is warmed up. Start by going back through everything you did and make sure you didn't leave a wire loose or some simple mistake like that.
