TPI vs TBI
I was wonderin if it would be beneficial and worth the money to invest in a TPI kit. My camaro presently has a throttle body and i wondered how much power i would gain from a switch
My friend is currently replacing his TBI engine with a TPI engine. And he his hoping to gain 100 horses but he's is also modding the block and adding a new cam and stuff... so i think you proboly will get gain 10-15 horses....
Hope this helps you....

If you've got a daily driver and are happy with your car, then no its not worth it. If you want more power out of your car, then its most definitely worth it. My dad switched to TPI on his 92 RS and gained 17 HP and 70 TQ at the rear wheels, on the stock 200,000 mile engine!

id say switch to tpi
as someone who has both tpi and a tbi 91 camaros, i prefer the tpi, more power, and there is more you can do with it.
plus you get tons more low end
check tpis for their complete swap kit
(i think the base kit is $2500 though)

What the heck does Nirvana have to do with this topic?? :/
Anyway.... for the 70ft/lbs extra torque... I would spend the money and switch over... just hope you have good wiring experience and patience.

On a more serious note, i think kev's dads results speak for themself. Keep in mind that if you want to make any even vaguely useable power in a TBI car you are going to have to swap the cam and heads, as both are as bad as you can possibly get. Even if you swap to TPI this will be the case.
In terms of ability, there are a lot more fast TPI cars than TBI cars. If you want to be one of the few that struggles to get a TBI car to go, thats an admirable goal. If you'd rather have other people's success stories to guide you to your goal, TPI is your option.

I KNOW this is not EXACTLY the same, but when I went from a 4bbl to TPI, the difference was REALLY noticable. To do it I bought a wrecked car & swapped everything over. paid $800 for the car but I have about a total of a grand into my swap. You can do the buy it off e-bay thing, but unfortunately you more than likely would not get everything, so you will have to find extra parts.
Well worth the time to convert over ESPECIALLY if you want to know more about your car than most people.

also something to think about. i am assuming kevin's dad was runnin the stock heads and cam too. if he was, he gained 70lbs.ft. of torque by just adding an intake. if you put on a set of better heads, and stabbed in a cam with your tpi swap, you could easily have a 250-270 horse motor. that would get you mid 14 sec quarter mile times.

Yes, the dyno result was with the stock peanut cam and stock heads. He just recently put in another cam, its 198/210, with .450/.460 lift, and went from 175 HP to 187 HP. But the car was running lean, and no amount of prom tuning would fix it. We dunno whats up, but we gave up after four dyno pulls.
depends which engine you have an what you want to do with it. Your question is too broad without more info.
