Questions about Runners
Since I am having to replace my injectors, I will have to remove the runners. While I'm at it, I might as well replace them with some better ones. If I replace them with ones that have a larger diameter, will I need to replace anything else they attach to? I assume you will have to get larger gaskets, but is there anything else? Also, is it possible to do a home paint job to the runners that lasts? If anyone has a pic of some installed painted runners, I'd like to see to get an idea of how it looks. Thanx in advance for any input.

Re: Questions about Runners
Get an Edelbrock Hi-Flo or TPiS big mouth manifold (they look exactly the same) and large tube runners from TPiS on AS&M (best price, they are the same) and have them polish them for you. This is the Edelbrock with polished (stock) runners. Its been in my car for a year now and is a really great manifold. Large tubes one day...$$$

No...I've seen guys port match stock plenums to the large tube runners. There are a few sellers on ebay that will do it for you

Re: Questions about Runners
so having the holes blended to one like that is better for performance than just making the holes larger?

Re: Questions about Runners
They do that for siamesed large-tube runners. Supposed to flow better. SLP performance runners are siamesed I think. I will just enlarge the holes to match the larger TPiS tunners when I can afford to. Go look in the TGO tech articles for Siamesing Your TPI Intake. Also look for Suggested Mods for TPI engines they are under Miscellaneous Modifications.

Here are mine.

Painted with normal Nighthawk Black and High Temp Clear. Lasted 6 years so far. The key is thin coats.
They are AS&M runners.

Re: Questions about Runners
ok cool. I'm not digging the black though, cuz of of the way they seem to blend in... I'd rather mine stand out more with a candy red or just have them polished like you have the plenum polished.
So which type of runner is better, siamesed or just having the larger runners?

Re: Questions about Runners
I modified my plenum and SLP runners, imitating what I saw on corvetteplenum.com. I got fairly good results, on my combo the motor held 300 rwhp to 5500 rpm. Also, check out the tech article (on the home page) titled "Siamesing your TPI Intake."

Re: Questions about Runners
Honestly I would go with which ever runner looks better to you. The SLP style should be easier to polish. Why not just polish your stock ones? Unless you have a lot of other relavent mods on your LB9 I don't think you will notice a performance increase.

Re: Questions about Runners
well i was planning to add mods in the future and figured that would be one needed mod along with others....i think i like the larger runners, i dont like how the SLP runners blend to look like one really wide runner...doesnt look as good to me. they cost more i think, but maybe one day I'll get em, prolly not anytime soon. thanks for all the input!
