turning back odometers....

I'm looking at getting a 145 speedo guage cluster. My car only has 68k miles on it, so will the numbers look F'd up if I get this speedo and turn back the odometer to what's on my car? I thought I once heard something about a silver stripe in the numbers or something if you turn them back. Please advise. Thanks

BTW, it's the '90-'92 setup that has the electric speedo if that matters.

If a digitial dash the mileage is in a chip and you just can't roll it back

The electronic speedo just means the signal to the speedo is electrical. All you will have to do is unscrew your original odometer and put it in the new speedo. The best way to do this is make sure the needle is ALL the way to zero. Do this by holding the swing arm behind the face plate. Then take not of where the needle was in relation to the grid (or something similar), and take the needle off. You can then swap the parts over. I did this with my bird, but the exact procedure is hazy since i did it ages ago. Email me if you want a more indepth answer.. i can also take a look at one of the spares i have for referance.
