Stalling (Intermitent)

so i have had this issue for a while now, the car will run fine no issue and at any point during the drive does it run any less than great BUT you can either be slowing down or just idling and it will stall seems to be mostly when the vehicle is hot and more frequent now that i have installed headers.
i have check for obvious things such as IAC, Vacuum leaks, Intake leaks, Throttle body leaks, etc.
Haven t found anything, replaced the IAC, Replace the distributor (ran smoother ), replaced coil, check ESC module & knock sensor, has one new o2 sensor, checked EGR valve, Check Fuel Pressure @ 45-50psi (i think cant remember), checked and set TPS,

And now i am completely out of idea's. The only thing i have not yet looked into is the trans sensor ex, VSS or Torque converter lockup..

have been playing with this for a few months now... making me very upset, this week has been pretty frustrating with it.. to the point i put it up for sale lol. .. sick of fixing haven't driven it in ages for any length of time.

Re: Stalling (Intermitent)

My 87 5.0 does almost the same thing. Mine has never stalled just idling. Mine randomly stalls when slowing down from highway speed to stop or turn. It is very random maybe five times a week. If I am driving 70mph and slow down it usually dies at about 10mph. How exactly is your stall mine is like you turned the key off, no jerk, miss, sputter, or anything. As soon as I turn the key it fires right back up. I have 2 tpi cars and have swapped parts back and fourth between them to try to move the symptom to the other car. Still only the 87 dies. The only part I have not tried is the ecm. The fuel pump is new and I have flow checked my injectors.
Maybe my ecm has a glitch gonna try it next.

I would say the injectors seem to be the most logical problem, if you have the old multi tech they are junk. Look at FIC for replacement injectors.

Re: Stalling (Intermitent)

my car was doing this, turned out to be a burned o2 sensor wire, AND a bad o2 sensor ground, fixed them and hasn't done it since. the headers i installed are what burned the wire

Re: Stalling (Intermitent)

PROBLEM SOLVED, However

i found the problem just proir to our long trip to alberta from manitoba. the problem was a BAD vehicle speed sensor located on the back of the intrument cluster. basically stalling intermitenttly when idle and deaccelerating. part impossible to find, discontinued every where i look and being an american car GM said i could only an american VSS and trying to locate for a reasonable price was impossible lol. so i unplugged it and first it didnt seem to have fourth gear. but then shortly after it did again BUT in the end i was going from drumheller to edmonton and when to plant it to the floor and it basically and i'm asumming from having the VSS unplugged the trans basically went into neutral and red lined happed a few times didnt notice and thing while we where in edmonton. drove around for the two days that we there, headed out on the hwy and after about an hour started hearing a cherping kinda of noise and basically noticed the oil pressure was a bit lower than usual, but kept going as it was 4am managed to drive it all night until 7am and one loud bang and wicked vibration shut it off pulled over. at first i was hopeing the harmonic balancer broke or the crank pulley came off entirely since it was not installed by someone previously correctly. but i went to start it again fired up knocked hard and then another loud bang shot the rod through the block . so needles to say we walk across the SASK border to this town rented a u-haul truck to get back to winnipeg 1200 later we had the truck lol... thats my VSS sensor story lol
