coolant system bleed-off

I'm looking for where the coolant system bleed-off valve might be.... have had so much trouble with overheating lately, maybe thats where im going wrong and i may have an air pocket i need to get rid of. since i just replaced the thermostat, but the car overheated again, do i have to replace the thermostat again? is it likely that it messed up after overheating just once on this particular thermostat?

There is no burp plug on these cars.

Are your fans working?
Are you missing your air dam?

Re: coolant system bleed-off

i heard that turning the heater on will help release some pockets.... and whether i got the air dam depends on where that is lol. i put some coolant into the coolant tub of course, then the radiator until it filled up and then unplugged the big hose from the top of the radiator and poured as much as i could in there and quickly put it back on before i spilled all of it out lol. i didnt try the heater thing, so i guess i will try that this time, but should i replace the thermostat again u think?

Re: coolant system bleed-off

I had a problem with overheating after putting head gaskets on a blazer. I ahd to pull the thermostat back out and fill the block by pouring it into the thermostat hole. Ran cool after. When does it overheat?

maybe its because im not pouring it into the hole where the thermostat goes into the block....hmm lol. i'll try that this time. i have been pouring it into the tube so that the coolant is on top, but havent been putting it underneath.

Re: coolant system bleed-off

you can also try lifting the front enad of the car so the radiator is higher up then the heater and runnign the car air will travel to the highest point so if you make the radiator the highest point it will go there then you vcan burp it out from there

Re: coolant system bleed-off

You don't need to do any of that, the radiator cap is already the highest point in the system.

Re: coolant system bleed-off

Agreed. I've never done anything to fill up my cooling system other than filling it at the radiator.
