Auto Xray Park/Neutral reading on TPI

OK I am having a problem with my Torque convertor not locking up and I am getting an EGR code 32 after the car warms up and is on the highway. The TCC and EGR are both tied into the park neutral switch operation and I am trying to trouble shoot.

I currently have an Auto X-Ray 6000 scanner and I am confused by it's park/neutral readings. The two options for the scanner to display are detected and not detected. Below is the readings I am getting

Shifter in PARK - not detected
Shifter in Drive - detected

I would have thought when the shifter is in Park I would get a detected reading and when in Drive a not detected reading but I do not know what is the correct readings for this scanner. Anyone using this scanner or any other autoxray scanner and can tell me what readings they get when they are in park and drive?

Also I changed my ECM with a know good unit and get the same readings with either computer I have in the car.

Thanks,

That's correct. I thought mine was wrong too, but it's not. I know, it seems backwards.

Thanks guys, ok I think that rules out the Park/neutral switch. I will have to study my readings so more.

Re: Auto Xray Park/Neutral reading on TPI

I would look at the EGR temp sensor for the code 32. When the EGR opens the heat is supposed to close the temp sensor. If that's not happening, it would cause your code. For the TCC, I'd run a wire to the connector at the trans. Put a meter on it and see if you're getting the lock signal (+12). That will tell you if it's the trans/converter or the wiring. It's unlikely the code 32 has anything to do with the lockup.

Ok so are you saying run a jumper wire from the trans connector to inside the car and attach a meter to that wire. And when the computer sends the lock signal I should see 12volts on my jumper wire. Correct
