have a 91 camaro 350 i installed a intake manifold and got it running timings right but when i first start it i have ro revv it to keep it running or it will idle at 300 then die after i revv it a couple of times it runs great any ideas

Check fuel pressure,My car doesn't like anything less than 44 at idle .

 

Will it run once it is warm?
Did it sit for a while not running? like in storage or broke down.
Do you get a CHECK ENGINE light?

 

it happends after its sits like in the morning when i start it up or at night after i get home and want to go some where and it runs great after about 2 revvs

yes sits over night or at least 8 hrs

wasnt in storage

it runs great when warm

no check engine light

 

Do you let the fuel pump prime before starting it?

 

yes i do..

 

well i ran it today and i shut it down restarted it and it idled at 500 rpms

when i revved it it went to 750 and was good

You're car has what is called a "COLD IDLE" controlled by a vacuum, relay or passive switch. Start there. Try going to you're library and using there computer. Most have a program called "ALL DATA" Great tool. Learn how to use it. It will tell you where the switch is and how to test it and if need be, how to replace it.

 

can you tell me what sensor controls the cold idle as i looked it up in my haynes
and on autozone and cant find a cold idle

 

I can for every car is a little different. I still recommend ALL DATA. Great program and will tell you more about you exact car then you would think possible. But the program cost about $240 or so each month. Thats why I say "check you're library"

should be around you're choke. It is sometimes called "COLD IDLE" "COLD START" "COLD RUN" and controls the idle for the first 2 minutes or so of a cold engine start.
