Accel Super Coil

Hello again,
Sorry for all the questions lately, but I gotta get my IROC back on the road!

Will the Accel Super Coil fit under the TPI distributor cover?

Want to keep the stock look, the parts stores around here all seem to have the Super Coil in stock, and all claim they cant get the Brute Thunder coil.

I know I can get the Brute Thunder coil at Summit, but would like to save on shipping!

sorry but no the coil wont fit. Reason being is the tpi uses a small cap and remote coil due to space requirements. The large cap hei was used primarily for carb application cars due to large volume of room and coil could be placed under cap to save sapace and other reasons.

Yeah, my 85 TPI has the in cap HEI coil. The super coil will fit the application, I just want to know if it will fit under the rear cover.

Re: Accel Super Coil

I have the large cap too. The stock size replacement accel super coil should fit under the cover.

Re: Accel Super Coil

OK there may be some confusion as to what I am asking. Will this coil:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
fit under the stock TPI dist. cover. I know this coil will:
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
All the local parts stores have the first one pictured, the Super Coil for $49.99. I can order the Brute Thunder coil obviously, but the Super is a bit cheaper and naturally I would save on shipping. BUT if it wont fit under the distributor cover I will pony up the extra cash.

Re: Accel Super Coil

I was looking into coils myself. The Accel one you are looking at, has its own top design because it isn't designed to fit under the stock cover.

At the bottom of the summit racing link you provided, check the 'notes' section. It states that the stock cover won't fit.

If you buy one, let me know how it works out. Once I finish my interior work, I'll be going under the hood next. Hopefully, next month.
