I have an 88 firebird 350 tpi 5 speed. car starts fine all injectors working but hesitates when you floor it. it will rev to about 4600-5000 but will not rev to redline. does not have power it should. any ideas? has no air restrictons or exzuast. engine idles fine but when you rev it up its slower to climb from about 3500-5000. when driven down road tries to go but noticeable loss of any and all power at about 4500rpm? any ideas please?

 

did you have a cat on your car?

 

might have a valve spring problem.

 

this sounds just like what my 02 Impala was doing to me when my cat went bad. it went on getting worse for about six months before i figured it out.

does the car almost feel like it is missing when you start to lose power?

dont really seem restricted but you never know had same problem with 89 caprice and 98 cavalier ill let you know in a few days thanks though.

 

anyone think it could have been the fuel punp? cause it just went out. plus one person told me that low pres. could cause that but i didn't that it would act like that.
