Need help getting correct resistance

I have a bad computer that is running in limp home mode. I checked the resistance in the relay for the ecm and I only get around 15 Ohms. In the painless wiring instruction book I have it says if you have less than 20 Ohms to replace the relay. I went and got a new one and I still only get about 15 Ohms.

When I got the car the wiring was all kinds of messed up so I have rewired the whole car with a fuse box out of a different car, and the painless engine harness. However, when I was at the auto parts store I had the guy look up one for the ecm for the correct year of my camaro, it fit in my fuse box.

So, I guess my question is, does anyone know where I can get a relay that has more resistance, or a resistor to put in line to raise the resistance? It doesn't matter what style of relay because I can just wire it in line. However the typical square style would save me some hassle.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Need help getting correct resistance

Well a few things here. Assumeing your measureing the resistance of the coil correctly and the meters working right and all keep in mind that 20 ohms spec is only for relays or solenoids activated by the ECM as lower resistances may require more current than the ECM can supply. Im not familiar with the ECM power relay but it would seem odd that the ECM would activate a relay to power itself as it would need power to engergize the relay in the first place? I suspect the ECM power relay is powered from the ignition switch or something. Anyways can you maby enlighten me as to the location of this relay maby also the color codes of the wires going to the relay so maby i can figure out whats the story with it? Although If a new one measures 15 Ohms and your old one did as well ide guess thats normal.
