IAC COUNTS ?
What should the IAC counts be for a heavily modified 383 TPI?
I know Ed Wright says below 100 is good, but 1-100 is alot of room to set at.

I got a hold of Ed Wright,
and he said 20-30 in case anyone was interested.

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
After my H/C/I swap, I had trouble with a low idle in gear. My IAC was maxed out. I adjusted the throttle screw, and got my IAC counts to 80 (It was at 80 before the swap). Idles like a champ in gear now.

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
So your saying that your IAC is at 80 now! If so that would make sense. Cause I can't get mine to come down to 20-30. With all the changes I've made to my IROC.
Anyone else have this issue, and what did you set yours at?

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
It depends on several factors:
*Where you want your minimum air rate set (throttle blade)
*How big your TB is
*What your idle speed is
*How much your PCV is flowing
*If you have any bypass holes in your TB
*Your engine size and VE at idle
*What air-fuel ratio you want at idle
*If you're getting EGR flow at idle
*If your exhaust scavenges at idle
*Your manifold air pressure at idle

I don't have a PCV any more, just a breather on each valve cover.

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
It keeps the oil cleaner by removing fuel (solvent) and water (corrosive) vapor from the engine. I don't like the extra oil going into my intake so I always run a fuel-filter between my PCV valve and the manifold.
Venting only does allow vapor to escape, but PCV does a better job of it.

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
I have my heavily modified 383 at 10 IAC counts at hot idle park.
After I've done some homework stock is 20-30, with a heavily modifed engine, it should be higher!

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
In the DIY Prom forums, they suggest 8 - 10 counts. This gives you nearly the full range of the IAC for that extra air at WOT.
Getting the count of 10 was the easy part. Massaging the fuel and spark to give me a non-surging idle was the difficult part.

Re: IAC COUNTS ?
If you're not tuning via calibration changes to your ECM, then that's probably your problem. You said you were trying to get your IAC counts to come down, but you didn't say how. It seems like a question to post on the DIYPROM section.
Either that, or you haven't yet clearly stated your problem.
