1990 Camaro Wont Start
1990 Camaro Iroc 5.7 TPI
Car has been sitting for 4+ years, so last night i took MMO and put into all cylinders and let it sit overnight, this morning i could turn the motor over by hand so i know its not seized.
Put in new battery and attempted to crank, it would turn and turn just never fire up, so i sprayed Starting Fluid down the Throttle Body, cranked it and it fired up, died about a second later.
This leads me to believe the Fuel Pump is out, i checked all fuses, VATS is working correctly, changed out Fuel Pump Relay, gave it fresh gas, depressed the Schrader valve and a drop of gas came out of it, so no pressure at the fuel rail.
I can not hear the pump "hum" when i put the key in and to the ON position.
Only thing i can think of is the Fuel Pump being dead, i am going to try all possibilities before dropping the tank(From what ive read its a PITA)
I have bought the fuel filter, just not installed yet.
What else could it be, or am i stuck with dropping the tank and changing the pump.

Think im going to make an access hole to the fuel pump and just go with a Delphi Fuel Pump for now.
Maybe i will be able to get it running tomorrow.

Ok, did it the correct way and dropped the tank, replaced the Tank, Sending Unit, and Pump. i can hear it "hum" for a few seconds when i turn it off, but it still will not start up, i can spray starting fluid in there and it will turn over for a few seconds like before. but the pump is working now, just no start up

Re: 1990 Camaro Wont Start
I am having the same issues right now. My Iroc hasn"t been turned on in over a year and is no humming. It is a new pump that I installed 3 years ago. it ran fine for 2 years(not many miles maybe 3K) and then sat now for over a year. I am going to check the relay right now and see if it has any current with the key in the run position. I don't believe it can be the pump since it is new and just sat. I am also going to change the filter just in case. I threw my fuel pressure tester on there and at the "run position"there is no pressure when there should be. let me know what you find just in case I don't finish my problem by today.

Follow that when testing, good stuff.
Mine turned out to be a dead fuel pump, replaced it and it started to HUM afterwards
Follow my other thread on this issue, has some good stuff in there also

Before you do anything else check the main line fuse near the battery like the message in the linked post says, a quick way to check it is if the ses light does not light up when you try to start the car.
Also a bad ignition module will not fire the injectors have that checked too.

the injectors could all be gunked up with s*it too....pull the fuel rails and see if they will fire, have a friend give it a little crank you should be able to see if they fire right
