cleaning injectors can it be done?

I found my injectors stopped up with varnish. The car had been setting for 4 yrs.I had 43 lbs to the rail, put light on injector harness and it blinked as the starter turned over, ok I pulled the injectors out put 12 volts to each one as I sprayed car cleaner thru them then sprayed air thru them as they were held open with the 12 volts. Will this work for cleaning them?

Re: cleaning injectors can it be done?

I did the same buddy. I pulled them out, connected a little nine volt battery, and sprayed just a little. I really dont know if its good or not because yes gasoline is harsh on some rubbers and plastics, but as we all know, carb cleaner is a very powerful cleaner and it can destroy rubber. My point is, I dont know if it (carb clearner) is to "acidic" for the little rubber pieces at the tips of the injectors. It did clean out the injectors, but as soon as I get my engine running, Im going to dump a fuel injector cleaner, fill up with supreme unleaded and dump octane booster. Then hit the drag strip, just to clean the sh*t out of the fuel system. I highly suggest your have the injectors serviced at a shop that performs ultrasonic cleaning techniques. Check out this video to see what Im talking about............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJmdvoZ83hY

Thanks TPI I will try your way of cleaning them money is on a tight budget just to move a car. If I decide to keep the tpi I will invest in some injectors later when economy gets better, and that could be a while Thanks again

fuel injector cleaners only work to a certain degree, it will not be able clean any carbon buildup that may be stuck on the inside of the injector. If at any point you decide that you would like them professionally cleaned...we posted a 10% off sale on all of our fuel injectors and clean/flowtest services.

if you are interested go to our website and type in code TG11 at checkout.

if your filters are dirty, just pop them out and replace them

Re: cleaning injectors can it be done?

Thanks for the reply. I scored a set of two lt1 fuel rails with injectors for 50 bucks. I havn't seen them yet, but they were running pulls and I am going to replace my stock injectors this winter when I do the valve stem seals.

How do you recommend I check? Do you sell the replacement filters?

Thanks!

Re: cleaning injectors can it be done?

we sell the filters, but we will just send you a set if you decide to change them out. Just PM us with your address, but Just know that changing the screens is not the answer to a "clean" injector.

Re: cleaning injectors can it be done?

Wow, that's really nice of you!

I realize this.. I know that I really should have them ultrasonically cleaned while being pulsed, but I just moved out on my own and am on a killer budget...
How much do you charge per injector? I'll have a spare set, so maybe i'll send you a set to work over with my tax rebate!

I hear ya! We charge $15 per injector for the clean and flowtest service, but again if you just want the screens for now we will send them to you no charge.
