305 TPI to 350 TPI
305 TPI to 350 TPI
I am currently putting another third gen together and want to use a TPI set-up. I have had TBI cars before and want to keep this one TPI for better power. I have a 91 RS with a 305 TPI. I am putting a slightly built 350 motor in and need to know if I can just swap all the TPI componants from my 305 to the new 350. I know I will at least need bigger injectors but will I need to change anything else? Thanks

I believe that you just need an ecm from a 350 TPI. You may be able to find one online or find data and burn it on a blank ecm. What does your slightly built 350 entail? You might be able to get away without tuning the ecm if your 350 is not to much more radical than stock.
Here is a link to cam specs for stock 350 tpi. I believe most aggressive cam you can use without ecm tuning is either the lt1 or ZZ1 cam. Maybe somebody can chime in on this.

Nice looking camaro btw. I like darker reds on thirdgens.

Re: 305 TPI to 350 TPI
You dont need an ecm, you just need a prom for your ecm programmed to run a 350 with the injectors you are using. Seems like I read about the knock sensors being different too.
Someone else may chime in but a quick search of 350 tpi swap (or similar terms) should turn up all you need to know, its a pretty common question here.

Injectors, knock sensor and PROM are the differences

Something I've always wondered...when you swap from a 305 TPI to a 350 TPI is it basically just an unplug, unbolt, take out, drop in the 350 and reconnect deal?

Re: 305 TPI to 350 TPI
If it was a full engine going in yeah (plenum to pan), if youre reusing the intake, the injectors are a little work and you need to do a prom either way. Id make it more complex myself before hand by changing any seal, gasket or servicable part I could on the engine going in. Even fresh injectors would be a lot easier before you drop it in (even if the ones on the motor are acceptable, may as well freshen up everything you can afford to).
