Re: Oilpan WARNING
Sorry I'm not getting it. Did the baffle break off at the sump?
Piston looks like it's had better days!
I thought the pan was just a "catcher" for the oil to return to be recirc'ed and keep the rotating as'y protected from the outside elements..?..
Going to rebuild stock or go bigger while it's apart?
{edit}
Pics are kind of blotchy on my screen-I have to figure out how to make pics come in clearer. Some are good some aren't--it's my system.
Did it throw a rod??

Re: Oilpan WARNING
Still looking into it. Right now it looks like the forward part of the oil pan baffle somehow came clean off, where the piston saw this oppertunity to try out its blender skills, and was good at it. The front two piston are the only ones that saw any damage.
Can't begin to imagine WTF happened. The car has almost 200k miles. This is the original engine. Never heard of an oilpan bringing down an engine, unless ofcourse it had a gapeing hole in it.

Re: Oilpan WARNING
Good luck on determining which happened 1st!! Not knowing, it would be my opinion--
piston failed
pieces banged thier way around to the pan
pieces plugged the screen.
IDK--engine failures aren't fun to figure out BUT if someone learns what caused the event,it may be prevented by others who read about it.

Re: Oilpan WARNING
Best I can tell block is fine. Pistons are ate up. Connecting rods look ok.
Talking to a guy at work, brought up an idea. Almost 200k miles the spot welds holding the baffle
