L98 Temp Gauge
The temp gauge on my car doesn't move. Stays at the cold position all the time. I removed the dash plate and when I touch the needle, wherever I put it, it stays. Also, when I turn my ignition on, sometimes the passenger side fan will run, sometimes both will run. After I start the car, both fans will run continously. Need some help with yet ANOTHER problem!

Re: L98 Temp Gauge
temp guage runs of a sending unit in the drivers side head, look below and between the first two spark plugs near the front, there should be a green wire clipped on to it.
are the fans running a new problem or has it happened right along?
could be bad relays, or something shorted to ground.

Re: L98 Temp Gauge
Check the relays and all the wiring, look on the radiator support near the battery for the 2 relays.
The primary fan is controlled by the ecm, the secondary is triggered by a switch in the pass head, seeing as both fans run all the time I would switch out the relays first, they're probably old and corroded

Re: L98 Temp Gauge
OK guys...got it working..I replaced the temperature sender (aka engine temp sensor) and it's giving me a reading! BUT, both fans come on within a minute...sometimes the driver side fan stops but the passenger fan continues non stop. If I disconnect the relays of course, they shut off. The relays are very clean and not corroded at all.
