How can you tell you have a Injector O-Ring Leak??And How Difficult is it to Fix It??

Engine: 1987 Corvette 5.7L TPI
Transmission: TR400
Axle/Gears: Stock
How can you tell you have a Injector O-Ring Leak??And How Difficult is it to Fix It??
I was wondering how would you be able to tell if you car has an injector o-ring leak and i was also wondering how difficult would it be to change all that.? any help or ideas would be great thank you..

You can tell by the puddle of gas accumulating on the intake under the leaking injector. As for fixing it, that depends on your mechanical aptitude, but it can be done with basic hand tools.

with the engine running spray a small amount of carb clean or starting fluid at the base of the injectors if the oring is leaking the engine should stumble hope this helps

I think ours are leaking too, it's an '88, and when moving slow in traffic it really smells like gas.

this will tell you you got a vacuum leak. Its only the top oring that has fuel leaks. The bottom is above the nozzle.

its not too difficult, you need to take your upper plenum off and then unbolt your fuel rails just enough to pluck the leaking injector and pop the new one into the rails and then seat the injector back into the intake. i just had the same problem with mine, make sure its seated in the fuel rail all the way or itll leak too.

Well I tried spraying some carb cleaner into the injectors and when i sprayed it what happened is that my rpm"s started to go higher...does that mean i have a leak??

I had leaking injector o-rings on an '88 Toyota Supra Turbo awhile back. I just plugged the exhaust and the throttle body, and pressurized the whole system with a small air compressor. With a small amount of pressure built up in the system, I could hear / feel air escaping from the o-rings. I replaced those and it made a HUGE difference.
