Re: TPIS...

you need to be more specific on the heads. THere are TONS of 180cc heads that range from weak to amazing

Re: TPIS...

The People over at TPIS said this setup with their Level 5 retune, should net me

320-350HP with 430-450LBS. I was just wondering if some of the members here had a similar setup? Maybe they can provide me with some dyno sheets?

Re: TPIS...

I had a zzz409 with age 195s and a ported too setup in my last iroc. I could never seem to get it to run right I recently switched over to an ls car and o my god absolutely love them. By far worth the swap or wait.

TPIS is pretty spot on... 330-350whp depending on the dyno with that combination

Re: TPIS...

My combo is VAGUELY similar:
Accel SR ported manifold, ported plenum, ASM runners, 52mm TB, Edelbrock 1 5/8 headers, 1.5 stamped rockers, Comp 302 cam, Dart IE SS 165/72 heads on my SB 357.

Made 304whp/431wtq on the chassis dyno. Their claim certainly sounds truthful.

If it wasnt done right with the install and tune, its going to be discouraging. It wasnt the combination of parts fault...they will work ok together.

Hey Orr89RocZ would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to what could of gone wrong with the Instalation?

The car hasn't been tuned on a dyno, but TPIS did supply the chip.

Mainly, cam was not degreed in properly...that could throw off timing events alot and cause subpar performance. Pushrod length could be too short or too long causing valve lift to be less than optimal. Guideplates positioned right for best geometry. Intake manifold port alignment...was the intake port matched to the head? No vacuum leaks, everything was sealed tight?

Little things like that could add up and make for a difficult running motor when trying to tune. Lastly, the tune is the biggest part. Dont expect to slap the parts together and drive away. Even a mail order chip designed for similar combos dont always work on similar combos I've tried my 383 tune on many similar 383-406 cubic inch builds on this board and have not had 1 person tell me it ran perfect for them...very similar heads/intakes/cams too!

Best to dyno/street tune once its running and all the mechanical checks have been performed. As long as the motor is not leaking or has any mechanical issues, the big gains in performance come from the tune.
