engine dies when put in gear

Axle/Gears: ?,3.27,3.45
engine dies when put in gear

just rebuilt and installed new l98 in 88 iroc idles good but when you put it in gear the engine dies,starts right back up.what's the problem?have changed iac,fuel pump,fuel pressure regulator,and adjusted tps.

I had the exact same problem with mine and even went through the same process of replacing IAC, O2 sensor, checked fuel pressure, etc... problem ended up being the distributor. It is a common problem among our cars apparently. What happened to mine anyway, one of the four poles inside the distributor was completely corroded away so it causes a terrible misfire under load (when put in gear) and it will stall. Check your distributor. I picked up a perfectly good replacement out of a van at my local Pull-a-Part junk yard for 30 bucks.
