I have an 87 trans am with a 350 tpi and it was rebuild like two. weeks ago. Last week I started to have the check engine turn on n of rigth away. When the check engine turns on the rpms go very high and very low and when I do a turn the car turns off, or when I stop it turns off too, this happends very rearely not always. I took the car to the mechanic but everytime I take the car with the mechanic the check engine light is off so he can't check it. Thanx.

Oh and this happnes when the car is hot

 

have you ckd. the codes ? they will be held untill re-set . checking codes will put you on the right track . good luck .

your Ecu will flash 1 - 2 Four times = Code 12 system is OK
anything after Example 2 - 5 = Code 25

 

Ok so even if the check engine is off I can still check it?

 

When I'm turning on my car it flashes 1 or 2 times

 

your CE light will blink one flash = #1 then two flashes = #2 <> = 12 this will happen 4 times... this is normal....
if you do not get any other code.. your system has no detectable problems...
if you pulled your battery... you will need to run your car for a while.. to store any faults or codes
