91 z28 injection

So im having a problem

my 91 305 isnt running right, so i replaced a bunch of the fuel components such as, the fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator. the pump is working fine. im reading 42 lbs of pressure and i checked the flow which was fine as well. the car only runs on ether. could it be i need new injectors or to be cleaned? or is it something with the computer?

thanks

Re: 91 z28 injection

can you tell if its running rich or not? Does fuel pressure stay constant after priming the rails? That can determine if the injectors are leaking, or if the regulator is bad, or if the pump has a bad check valve. Since you replaced those last 2 items, then probably look at injectors.

If you could get the car working and heated up, do an ohm test on the injectors. Ohmeter to the metal prongs on the injectors and see what they read. Should read near 15-16 ohms i think when warm.

Do you have good ignition/spark at the plugs?

Re: 91 z28 injection

If you engine will only start on starting fluid/ether then your fuel injectors are not pulsing, no fuel is getting into the cylinder. most likley cause is a failed ignition module
or maybe a bad pick-up coil.

Re: 91 z28 injection

Spark yes, but no fuel. Take the ignition module to autozone and have it tested, and go from there. The ignition module also tells the fuel injectors when to fire.
