383 TPI?
I want to build a 383 stroker for my 88 Iroc but i'm not sure if the TPI will be able to handle that. I'm looking to build about 400HP. If anyone has any insight into what I can do with that I'd appriciate the help.

Re: 383 TPI?
400 on motor can be easily done. 400 at the tires on a chassis dyno will be MUCh harder to do.
TPI can handle 400 on motor fairly easily, just get the big tube stuff and big mouth type bases. You need more flow than what stock TPI can give.
400whp will require a heavily ported/siamesed base/runner combination or better yet, a stealth ram or miniram or efi single plane.
This build here has good numbers, so good for the parts i wish someone would try this again and see what rear wheel numbers/rpms it actually does put out

Re: 383 TPI?
From the other thread Orr refered to:
"Send some ZZ4 heads to Extrude-Hone, along with the stock
TPI base and plenum."
Actually one car in our club has had good results with the Extrude-Hone process. It makes more power than one would think. We are thinking it is the Extrude-Hone and the smooth walls.
My modified TPI system has smooth walls because I had the interior coated with a heat barrier coating. It also makes good power.
If you want to use TPI on a 383 you can do it but as Orr stated you have to use the aftermarket stuff and have it opened up. With some of the modified TPI systems flowing well North of 300cfm that has the potential to support 600+ horsepower. 400hp is a piece of cake if done right.
