TPI WIRING HARNESS
can a tpi harness and computer for a 700r4 with electric speed sensor work with a t5 with manual speed sensor i have two camaros one i already bought all the tpi for the 350 tuned port and i was wondering if i needed to buy a painless or could i use the wiring harness i already have i dont need the car its in any ideals
Re: TPI WIRING HARNESS
Having never done that exact swap I can't say for sure. Certainly an auto trans car setup is going to have one more hookup that you won't have with a manual- the torque converter lockup.
I suspect that the T5 with a cable (assuming that's what you mean) isn't going to work with an ECM designed to work with a trans (any trans) that's designed to have a direct link to a VSS in the tailshaft, but I would wait to see what othrs have to say on the subject.

Just connect to the purple and yellow wires on the TPI harness that went to the auto VSS

The 4 pin plug on the TPI harness that went to auto for convertor lockup you don't use on a manual

Re: TPI WIRING HARNESS
I've used the speed sensor/gear drive type sensor for 90-92 Camaro/Caprice patrol car in at least half dozen TPI streetrod type installations. It has the VSS plug to go to ECM and also used a cabel drive for older speedos. Works great.
The 67 Firebird vert in sig is using that setup.
I can get you a Delco part number when I get home if you need it.
Standard, I believe makes the same part as the Delco unit.

Re: TPI WIRING HARNESS
the cars speed sensor is a manual cable dont have the vss sensor on the tail shaft the only connector in the t5 is the reverse and shift light i dont need the shift light all i need is the reverse light thats why i thought is i used the auto harness i would only use the reverse light connector and nothing else looks like it would work but i wanted to make sure before i yank it all out
