What year is this engine (pics)

I called the guy but he has no idea what year the engine is from. Hell of a deal.

Looks like a 87-88 1 pc rear main casting that can accept a factory roller cam: taller lifter bores & machined for flat surface to rest dog bone on but not drilled for spider plate, easy to do. probably something out of a truck or whatever. Cheap indeed.

So the truck engines had solid lifters? I checked the casting # and it is indeed from a truck.

Yes, solid lifters in trucks, and often the blocks weren't fully machined for the factory roller set up, like that block.

Re: What year is this engine (pics)

So what needs to be done to the block besides adding a spider plate to run a roller cam and lifters in it?

Anything else that is different about this engine for me to run it in my 87 TA?

It needs a cam retainer in the front, and a set of dogbones, and you'll have to drill and tap the bosses to bolt down the spider. Externally it's identical to what came in your 87.

Looks like a mix and match to me. Those are not centerbolt heads, but it looks like it has self aligning rockers. And I'm only seeing one accessory bolt hole in the passenger head. FYI.
