I am swapping my 305 TPI from my 85 to my 84. Can i just add an inline fuel pump like this one from summit racing instead of dropping the tank? Is the PSI correct?

you need to drop the tank - the new pump will not be able to adequately pull fuel through the old pump.

 

There is no pump in the tank. The 84 was not fuel injected, instead of putting a sending unit and a pump in the tank this should work right?

 

I converted a carbed car to TPI and ran an inline pump attached to the framerail behind the right rear tire. Runs great and have had no problems for the past year. Can't even hear it...once you start the engine.

 

Carbureted cars may or may not have had in-tank electric pumps in conjunction with the block-mounted mechanical pump.

 

What pump did you run in it?

 

It came with a kit supplied to me from Affordable Fuel Injection. You should be able to call them at 989-862-4163 and they should be able to give you the specifics.

Do you remember what all cam in the kit. I tried looking it up on their site an all i could find was the pump.

 

It was a complete TPI converion kit. Came with fuel pump, manifold, ECM, and wiring harness. Pretty much everything but the fuel lines.

 

I already have the manifold and ecm... Do you think i would be fine with a pump like this and wire harness?

I couldn't open the link to the pump, but the wiring harness looks like it would work just fine.

 

I searched around on jegs for the pump u had linked. It looks like it only flows a max of 40psi. I think they need 45psi to run right correct? That is the same pump my dad had on his old blazer that he put tpi in and he always had problems with it.

 

A max of 40 PSI probably won't cut it with TPI. I think stock pressures run around 43 PSI. You want around 40ish at idle and 48ish at WOT.
