383 Tpi

Ok I have a 383 Stroker tpi in my 87 vette. Im running stock Intake no porting. LT4 Hotcam, 1.6 RR, longtube headers, Borla Exhaust, and 24lb Bosch Injectors, Stock heads, and the stock computer chip

I bought 30 lb bosch Injectors because every one said the 24lb are to small. not installed

The car feels like It doesn't have power at the top end (3500-5000)
I keep reading Its the intake that is restricting me. If it is I was thnking of going with a used Accel Super Ram kit.

I was going to buy a chip from pcm when Im finshed.

Let me know what you think and your advice on my situation

Re: 383 Tpi

What is holding you up is not the injectors or the intake at this point, it's the tune. 24# injectors should be good for about ~360 hp which is the most your setup will make. yes the heads and intake run out of breath after 5000 rpm, but you are having problems in the 3500-5000 rpm range, My guess is your tune. Data log your engine, I would imagine that from 3500 to 5000 rpm you will need to add both fuel and spark advance. What engine did your vette start out with? a 350? Adding displacement and a cam will drastically change the requirements for fuel and spark.

TPI on a 350 maxes out below 5k ( will rev higher but doesn't make any more power ) so will max out lower on a 383

383 with stock TPI ( but with big heads and cam )

FWIW
I ran a ported TPI on the 383 in my '87 Vette with close to stock tune; only adjustment was for larger injectors
Ran 12.7
Swapping to a HSR intake with no other changes got 12.3 1st time out

Re: 383 Tpi

its a combo of the intake and a tune...put that super ram on there and get a dyno tune and you will be in good shape
