intake on a L98
intake on a L98
Was wondering what are the the best aftermarket intake manifolds for a L98 that keeps the low end torque and increase HP to 300 plus? Other parts would be vortec heads or aluminum haven't decided yet a mild cam and shorty hooker headers with flowmasters...any replies are greatly appreciated

If you stay with TPI, then then about the only intake left would be Edelbrock Hi-flow.

I have a set of SLP runners, the stock runners are too small and can't hardly be ported. If your going to change the intake manifold, you should change the runners also, check this out; https://www.thirdgen.org/runner-leng...ter-variations You can also find alot of info in here about porting and what benifits you can gain by it.

You might want to check out a company called Tuned Port Induction Specialties. I had their intake setup on my last third gen and it ran awesome, low end torque was strong. Only thing, they are a little pricey.

Re: intake on a L98
For bolt on car with more torque and hp across the TPI rpm range, any aftermarket TPI setup would be nice. FIRST is your best bang for the buck and will support a nice set of aftermarket heads and cam later down the road. Its bigger than other TPI setups so its capable of supporting abit more hp.
Cheaper options probably are single plane EFI or holley stealth ram or edelbrock proflo xt. They extend the rpm range due to shorter runners more tuned to higher rpms, and give up peak torque that TPI makes, but they will create a flatter torque curve below and above peak torque rpm. This makes for more average power up top and results in a faster car. I went with a stealth ram intake for my L98 and with supporting bolt ons, it ran high 12.9's in perfect air.
With medium/big cam and a good set of heads you have an 11 second car if it aint heavy. Miniram/stealth ram/single plane intakes will be a better buy if you want to go above 4500 rpm and make serious power and run fast
