LT1 Cam with 1.6 Roller Rockers

I have a 1987 Camaro with a stock 305 V-8, except for a LT1 cam. I would like to install 1.6 roller rockers, but would these exceed my limits of my stock valve springs?

Swap in some ZZ4 springs, locks and retainers.

Pretty cheap GMPP parts.

To use the ZZ4 springs, do I have to machine the heads for these to fit?

Nope. I run an LT1 cam with ZZ4 springs and a 1.5 rocker on my 305 but it will take a 1.6 with no problem.

Where did you purchase your ZZ4 springs? Did you remember the cost? How do you like your LT1 cam with your 305?

I picked up the ZZ4 springs, locks and retainers from GMpartsdirect.com. I was working in the US at the time and had everything shipped to the hotel. I believe I paid under $100 for everything 3 years ago.

Springs - 12495494
Locks - 12495503
Retainers - 19171528

The LT1 cam is a good upgrade from stock and adds about 25 hp. I also have Edelbrock ceramic headers, a 4th gen alum. driveshaft, dual cats and 3" exhaust with an SLP muffler. The motor sounds very nice. Need to get it on a dyno this year and pull some numbers. I'm guessing around 210 to the wheel.

I also have a new ZZ4 cam waiting to go in...just need to save up for some Trick Flow 305 heads
