80's early 90s fbodies and vettes, either 305 or 350. just wondering what the highest numbers are on stock cubes. modified of coarse, so it will probably have like a holley stealth ram, aluminum heads, a big cam, long tube headers etc....

Re: What is the most powerfull tpi ever built?
couple of guys here with stock bottom ends approaching around 400whp. Traxxion was in the 11's, and so are a few other guys here with aluminum heads/miniram type setups. Thats all motor
Sprayed/blown/turbo'd stuff has been well passed 11 second area. trbo355's turbo TPI setup made 730+whp and ran 9.3s I think

Is the Mini Ram a TPI, well I guess to some extent. But for means of context when we talk TPI here I Think we mean the original GM style.

Miniram/Stealth Ram/Ramjet/etc short runner type setups are not TPI... You may classify them as that way since they bolt in and can use TPI electronics but its not really a TPI intake. TPI is long tube runners and look like the factory style setup just with bigger tubes. Superram is using TPI base and resembles a TPI systems runners...so its still TPI.
To get the most out of TPI you need large siamesed runners and an extremely well ported base. Then the limit is just how high can you spin the stock bottom end. You can put 210 cc heads on it and try to cam it up...it will make big power if the TPI is supportive but the bottom end wont hold for long.
If you throw on a big single plane EFI setup thats ported out, then you should beable to make power to 8000 rpm on the right head setup but the bottom end would never survive. The bottom ends the limit on any motor really.

Re: What is the most powerfull tpi ever built?
I have an LS1 Ported Stock heads/cam/longtubes/ls6 intake/ported throttle body/ pulley kit/ X pipe and modified catback on my 99 Corvette. It makes 417/417 at the wheels. I love it. I have a 69 Firebird 455 with Ported roundport heads/XHR288RPM/ 1 7/8 Long tubes/ large Holley Carb. It makes 358/360 at he wheels (automatic) and is a blast to drive as well. My lowly 89 Iroc 350 TPI makes 290/358 at the wheels and its just as much fun as the other two. It gets decent mileage and is pretty quick.
If done properly I am a big believer that a TPI still makes for a Great Street engine. I was surprised how easy it was to make the TPI work well. Just like several on this board have pointed out, if you are prepared to port and siamese the plenum/runners and port the base you can build a version of the TPI that will be a very satisfiing engine.

so im gonna assume my FIRST intake is still considered TPI right by your definition...?

Re: What is the most powerfull tpi ever built?
FIRST is just bigger TPI so its still TPI. To me its the best bang for the buck TPI system available and I"m surprised not many run that intake. Its not any more expensive than a new aftermarket TPI with runners/base/throttlebody, and infact may be the same or cheaper depending what you get.
