Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
First Off..
Let me start with my name, Luis F. Gutierrez.
I've always wanted to document my build in a step by step/part by part collaboration.
The car in question is a 1989 Formula 350 with 68,000 miles. I bought the car from my best friend (Ozzy) who had the car for the better part of two years. The gentleman who owned the car before him sold it due to an irrepairable engine noise. The car originally came with the following:
L98 5.7L V8
GM Rebuilt 700R4
Ported/Polished Corvette Aluminum Heads
Ported/Polished Base Plate for LTR (No LTR's Though)
Unknown Shortie Headers with Y-Pipe, No Catalictic Convertor, 3" Piping
Unknown Aftermarket Panhard Bar (Non-Adjustable)
Unknown Aftermarket ECU Chip
Two Different Sets of Rocker Arms, Crane Cams: Race Gold and I don't remember the other brand, they were red or burgundy.
Unknown Cam
Trans Am Ground Effects, Side Moldings Removed, Daytona Hood
Sony Xplod CD Player with Control glued to center console.
This is how the car was purchased by my friend Ozzy...
Would any of you here be familiar with the car?

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
Soon after came the purchase (from the previous owner) of the Arizona Speed and Marine Large Tube Runners with a Nitrous Port! A ported Plenum for the LTR's and an Arizona Speed and Marine 52mm Throttle Body, for some reason this setup was paired with a set of 30lbs Accel Injectors (Nitrous/Forced Induction?). When the vehicle was initailly purchased, the previous owner was honest and said he had tried unseccessfuly to fix a nagging "Knocking" like sound. (Thus the reason for the two sets of Rocker Arms, and the sale of the vehicle)
The above mentioned parts were to be paired with some of the original parts (mentioned above) once a proper rebuild took place.
The rebuilding of the engine was sourced for price... (Can you see where this is going?)
Sure enough
My good man Ozzy got what he paid for, JUNK!!!
Which brings us pretty close to where we are today...

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
I bought the car from my man Ozzy, for $2,000.00, in running condition. But with a badly rebuilt engine. I proceeded to sell the engine, in stock form... No buyers, so I sweetened the deal with all accessories (A/C, Power Steering, Alternator), I also through in the Aluminum Heads, Ported/Polished Base Plate,Torque Convertor (Probably a stall convertor, not to sure but it was Orange), two sets of Rocker Arms
I sold it all for $1,000.00
The proceeds went to the purchase of a 1990 Trans Am (My knowledge was not as vast as it is today, and I belived I had purchased a 5.7 TPI when in reality it was 5.0)

You should make a account over on photobucket, then it's pretty easy to link pictures off of it.
So where exactly is this is going anyways?

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
It's going to be similar to my 89 build in progress. My 383 with a forged and balanced Eagle assembly is in a ZZ4 block, I am reusing the aluminum heads, repocketed with dual springs and 1.6 roller rockers. Comp Cam (damn if I remember the lift and duration - I have to look). The intake is an Accel Superram and LTR's and an SLP 58 mm throttle body, and accel 24# injectors. I upgraded to a 7730 ECM, but am seriously debating on blowing the money for the LSX harness and computer. Here is the progress on cleaning up the intake:

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
Yes I am. Time consuming, but it makes the engine look sharp!
I have a few more (large) before and after shots here:

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
That looks really nice! The LS ecm is nice, and if memory serves, with a dual-sync distributor, you can fun sequential fuel injection. (+ greater tune-ability, using an LS-1 hand-held tuner)

Are the pictures in the "jpeg" format? If they are maybe you can "crop" the pictures to reduce the pixel size.

Re: Tuned Port Injection Tribute
Thirdgen.org will not accept files lager the 1MB for posting. He said some of the files were larger than that. See post #18 above.
If you are running one of the Windows, Microsoft has a pricture resizer tool that will take a 1MB jpg file and reduce it to 50kB to 200KB in most cases. Those files can easily be posted to thridgen.org.
Note that there are different versions of the software for Xp/Vista and Windows 7.
Go search at microsoft.com and use the tools to help.
