had a shop put on new cap and rotor and my car is not kickin like it should

just like the title says i took it in to have some work done and cruised home in it but i noticed when i went to take off it wasn't accelerating like it should it seems like its red lining to fast when im shifting gears, i called the shop and asked if they had timed it and they said no because there was no need. are they wrong? because it sure does feel like it.

No need to change timing if it's correct. The real question is if they checked it.

A performance decrease after a cap & rotor change means something is wrong.

Im really interested to hear what comes out of this...I'm having some of the same symptoms in my car after new injectors, fuel filter, and thermostat. Although it was recently bought and not running well so it wasn't taking off like a champ to begin with.

It sounds to me like they probably got the firing order wrong...not much that you can screw up in a cap and rotor change other than that.

i got it back and said they rechecked everything and that i should run some injector cleaner through it. so i gonna a take it to another shop because they won't admit im right i told them that up intill me droppin it off at your shop if ran just fine and now since ive gotten it back it backfires on hard acceleration and it just aint kickin like it used too.

Re: had a shop put on new cap and rotor and my car is not kickin like it should

fuel injector cleaner isnt goint to help that... its really sad when shops like that dont own up to their mistakes..... this is why i do most of the work on my car.... no one is going to care more on your car than you... to shops its just money for them... the longer they keep it the more money is cost to fix it.. some people purposely do things so you can come back and dump more money to get it fixed...

It's most likely a spark plug wire mix up or timing. But i think it's the former. I had that issue when i had cracked wires and it felt like i was running on 4 cylinders and it felt like it had no power when i was flooring it. it also took forever to get to passing gear
